Centered Ministry

As a community of young adults, we want to create experiences and resources that encourage us to seek more than just a religion, but a relationship with Christ.

About

From our visionary leader, Abigail Shaw:

"About two years ago, I started a virtual young adult small group that met twice a month on Friday nights. I wanted to give us as young people a safe space to talk about subjects we may not have felt comfortable discussing in our faith communities. Throughout the various series and spotlights, we discussed learning to be authentic with Jesus and learning to personally connect with Him; mental health – struggling with depression and anxiety as a Christian; and finding our identity in Christ and who we are in the church."

Last fall, Abi invited a few of her friends to join her in re-launching this safe space to have a more intentional purpose, mission, and vision and better define how the ministry would reach and interact with other young adults. They started praying to God show them how Centered could support young people like themselves who were questioning their faith experience. Finally they felt called to host a retreat in a nature-based, intimate setting for young adults aged 18-26 to reconnect with Jesus.

"Our purpose in having this retreat is to show young people that it is okay to be hurt and to feel it, but we want Jesus to heal our hearts so we can live in spiritual freedom... [and] bring out the theme of restoration and healing in a way that is relevant and personal."

Centered exists to help young adults find healing through an authentic relationship with Christ. We want God to use us to help young adults find their worth in Christ, so they can live in emotions and spiritual freedom knowing that they have a place in the body of Christ. We want more than just experience and religion but a relationship.
