Uncomfortable with payment method

I love the brilliant Clipto, and use it on Linux, Android, and my Chromebook tablet. But my Linux app isn't syncing anymore (and I am not close to my 300 note limit). I don't much care, and thought contributing would most likely upgrade the app into working again. 7 US dollars a year is a fair price, and I set out to pay it. But instead of paying through the google app store, Clipto wants me to give it my google password, login directly, and charge my card.
I've never done that, and don't see why I would need to let a company have my outside accounts login information. Is there another way?

Hi! Thanks you for the feedback!

1) The app does not ask you for login/password to make any payment (make sure that you have downloaded the app from the official Web Page or Google Play. The app uses different authorisation providers to sync your data with the cloud, but it is not linked with your payment information and actually the app do not know anything about your payment accounts (it can only access the transaction id when the Google notify it about)
2) The payment can be done via different ways (Open Collective, Patreon, Google Play) - and all of them do not let the app to see your payment details.

This isn't asking for my Google account password?
I have tried to pay for the plan through Google Play but not seen the option. Please provide directions on how to do so. Thank you.

It is a standard dialog of Google In-app billing api. The app does not have access to it (any payment via Google Pay or Apple Pay starts from such dialog if you did not use it before or previously granted permissions were expired).
Actually, the app could not be accepted by Google Play if it had an access to payment profiles.
