West End Food and Solidarity
This is a place to contribute to the costs of providing no-questions-asked food parcels to people in the West End of Newcastle. And the cost of setting up West End Food & Solidarity which will help us to carry on doing this in the long term sustainably.

We are launching West End Food & Solidarity. A democratic, non-profit, and member-led organisation for low/no to moderate income people - fighting against food poverty and socialising household parcels for our members.
Nobody in these groups is paid, there are no bosses, and we are not a charity. Currently, membership rate has not been fixed, this will happen at the first general meeting - it will be based on a sliding scale (related to income). To receive a parcel you must live in the west end of Newcastle
70% of the food in these boxes comes from Fareshare, a waste food charity. Originally we received this food for free, however since September 2020 we have been charged £200 per month for this food. This has been paid for by donations from various members.
Anyone will be able to join and contribute money to pay for the food, whether they are receiving food or not. This will mean that we can keep delivering food and cheaply buy food we choose together. The food members get will be worth more than their membership fees (cheaper than the supermarkets) for low or no income members.
The organisation will be led by what members want and need. All members will be invited to take on whatever roles they can to help the organisation run. We need people right now to help us to keep going. Please text, call or whatsapp us on 07393101018
