David Tschumperlé joined the CNRS as a Chargé de Recherche in 2004, after a PhD in Image and Signal Processing from the University of Nice (2002) and a diploma in computer engineering obtained in 1999.
He joined the IMAGE team at the GREYC laboratory (UMR 6072) in Caen, whose research activities focus on algorithms for digital image analysis and processing.
He becomes head of this research team of around fifty people in 2017.
Since 1999, he has developed and made available several open-source software packages for digital image processing, both to facilitate the dissemination of algorithms to the scientific image processing community, but also to enable the general public to use some of these algorithms, mainly for artistic purposes (photography, video, digital illustration and painting, etc.).
