About

I have been victim of not one, but two house fires in my life. And I have lost all my belongings twice. One of the most important things I have learned from these events is to be resourceful in my household (it helps that my partner is a sustainability professional).

It is not frugality, it is efficiency.

My name is Diego but people call me Dean.

I, like many others, enjoy walking. I, like many others, enjoy going to quiz nights every now and then.

I, like many others, hate having to change my daily habits.

I have been working on an idea for almost 2 years that combines the best of walking and answering questions - and makes the process of learning something new, an enjoyable experience.

My goal is to educate members of the community in being more resourceful in their households, generating less waste and reducing their costs.

My volunteering experience:

My first fundraising event was in 2003, when I created my first event to raise funds for charity:water in Mexico City.

In 2005 I started creating videos to raise funds for volunteer transport for helping out cleaning areas in the Caribbean after the hurricane season (Helping Hand Brigades).

In 2007 I wrote my thesis on public relations on how to work with all the actors in a society to start a new project with emergency housing in Latin America (A Roof for Humanity).

Today I collaborate with an NGO to help raise funds on bereavement courses and thanatology.

My work life experience:

My career started in 2009 by helping Spotify launch marketing operations in more than 10 countries - including New Zealand.

Since 2015 I have worked with more than 50 different organizations managing their monthly paid advertising budgets - these ranging from 5000 up to 100 thousand NZD.

I want to help people:

  • learn some resourceful strategies,

  • decrease their living costs,

  • and help them achieve a level of economic freedom

...while having a little bit of fun and fresh air every week.
