A youth-led, non-partisan civic education initiative dedicated to empowering young people with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to participate meaningfully in New Zealand's democracy.
Most young people leave school without a clear understanding of how New Zealand’s democracy works, or how to take part in it. Democracy Lab was created to close that gap, making civics simple, relevant, and accessible for every student.
We are strictly non-partisan. We don’t tell students what to think or who to vote for. Instead, we give them the tools to understand the system and make their own informed decisions. Our sessions are designed to be clear, practical, and relevant to real life.
This page hopes to collect koha, to contribute to our kaupapa and operational costs. Check us out on socials!
We're currently focusing on delivery in schools, developing public resources, and hearing what young people want from us. What would you like to see in the Youth Civics space?
