Moving to Discord
Published on November 26, 2021 by Dan Hannigan

It's been an exciting year for all of us. There's been lots of change, growth, and uncertainty about the future.

Our little community, Denver Devs, has continued to weather these changes and this uncertainty. As we inch closer to 2022, we've taken time to look back. Not just on the past year, but much further. Denver Devs has always been on Slack, and while it's been a gracious host, we've found features to be somewhat lacking. To quote one of our community members: "Slack tolerates us being around, Discord wants us to be around."

That said - we're moving into new territory, to Discord. We're adding uncertainty in an uncertain time. It might be a little scary,  change always is, but I have confidence we'll make it through.

We've already used some of the generous funding you all have provided to help nudge this endeavor along in the form of an excellent new Discord bot to help with moderation and housekeeping.  We may need to reach into the coffers more, but these expenses are approachable.

Thank you for contributing and easing the financial burden we might face.
