DCC exists to build a more regenerative world through the development of tech tools for changemakers. We make the invisible visible through sharing information on the land and environment around us and mapping the social and solidarity economy ecosystems.

About
DCC develops community tech that enables citizens to build projects and commons together. We enable the people making change from the ground up to use data to defend the planet and create the society and economy we need for a fairer world.
DCC works with social justice organisations, cooperatives, and community groups to help them leverage the power of data. We do this in a number of ways including:
- Building tech tools and infrastructure that meet the needs of social movements.
- Collaborating on innovative tech projects.
- Researching the needs of changemakers and opportunities for action.
DCC’s current works falls across three overlapping themes:
- Land - Imagine how useful the data that water companies gather could be to local river protection groups.
- Housing - And how the data that developers use to find new plots for luxury apartment blocks could help local communities wanting to create affordable housing.
- Solidarity Economy - Or if the technology used for Google maps could be harnessed to connect social action projects in a local area.
Tools and tech development
We have three tech tools that we use for much of our work:
Land Explorer: a mapping tool to help people and organisations access information on land including classification, usage, ownership and more. This enables community activists and groups to access GIS capability without needing specialist skills, and to create collaborative maps supporting the design of land-based projects.
Mykomaps: mapping the solidarity, social and cooperative economy to increase visibility and opportunities for collaboration and collective changemaking. Citizens can produce user-friendly maps of their local area, and keep these maps and the associated databases updated and live.
Twine: a free mobile app that helps organisations gather, track and analyse data - including volunteer and visitor information - to paint a clearer picture of an organisation's productivity and impact.
