Update on the Website www.dragondreaming.org
Published on January 8, 2020 by Friederike Abitz

Hey there, dear fellow Dragon Dreamers worldwide!

An update on the activities concerning the website has long been due. We are a small team of 4 people at the moment, pitching in our time on voluntary basis, so please be generous and understanding that we lacked a bit of communication towards you.

We have good news and not so good news.

The good news

We found and implemented a solution, which makes dragondreaming.org part of a German NGO called frekonale/GreenNetProject e.V. (Website: https://greennetproject.org/en/)

This means, the website can finally be owned and controlled by a legal representative which is not an individual (as was before) but rather an organization which has an agreement with us, as representatives of the Dragon Dreaming Community, to host and maintain the website. Andreas Boegner, Daniel Körner and Friederike Abitz currently form a sociocratic circle within frekonale/GreenNetProject e.V. called "Dragon Dreaming Website & Platform".

The agreement can be read here: A-02. Agreement between DDWP and GNP-frekonale e.V._final_2019-07-05.pdf

Also, we now have a common bank account (yay!) that enables us to receive tax deductible donations (at least in Germany, possibly whole Europe, check with your local tax accountant), which also was not possible before. Having a common bank account gives us the possibility in raising funds to renew and maintain our common platform DragonDreaming.org and be transparent about money flows.

The bad news

The current WordPress based website has become victim of an (automated) hacking attack. No worries, @Ravi Resck saved and secured all vital and sensitive information. Those information were also not part of the attack.

The hacking attack took advantage of the old system and destroyed the multisite structure. That's why you have trouble in displaying most of the information correctly at the moment, because parts of the website which communicated in the background before cannot do that any more.

We came up with a short term plan on how to set up a new website before we see a new platform being developed with the input of the worldwide Dragon Dreaming community. Please read the plan here: Project 6 - Creating a New DD Website

~

Also, we would like to thank everyone who    has given time, knowledge, expertise and financial contribution to creating and maintaining www.dragondreaming.org.

People who have been involved in creating the website and platform in 2013 were (to our knowledge):

  • Manuela Bosch, Marketing, Brand-Development and Community Building
  • John Croft, Intellectual Property, Content and Funding
  • Catriona Blanke, Translation and Funding
  • Erika Cezarine Cardoso, Design and Logo
  • Angel Hernandez, Project Management, Technic, Design, Funding, Organisational Development and Community Building
  • Josef Kreitmayer, Technical Concept
  • Xavier Santotomás Mena, Spanish Content

We are aware that probably even more people have been involved with different amounts of time, money and energy commitment. If you would like more people to be acknowledged visibly, then please tell us!

Until September 2018, as far as we know, mainly Angel, Rainer and Josef have kept the website & platform running and took responsibility on paying hosting services as well as for necessary bug fixes.

In Summer 2018, a new team formed, to take over responsibility and to care collectively for the website & platform DragonDreaming.org again:

  • Xaba Pfiffer (June - September 2018)
  • Angelika Schall (June 2018 - Januar 2019)
  • Virgilio Varela (June 2018 - April 2019)
  • Andreas Boegner (June 2018 - now)
  • Ulrike Reimann (June 2018 - March 2019)
  • Daniel Körner (June 2018 - now)
  • Friederike Abitz (June 2018 - now)
  • Ravi Resck (September 2018 - now)

Thank you also for the financial contribution of 120 Euros from Julia Ramos Puente and Beatriz Gallego from Spain, as well as 350 Euros contribution from Ilona Koglin from Germany. At the moment, we are using this money for hosting services and bank account services.
