Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for your donation to the Grocery Gift Card fundraising effort that myself and friends put together to help out our Bronx neighbors. You may have received a thank you from us for your generous donation through this site, but we wanted to personally reach out and say thank you. 

We also wanted to provide you with an update on our efforts.

In less than a week, we have raised more than $7,500 through our initial GoFundMe fundraising effort! While we are very proud of this, we are aiming for a total of at least $10,000 so we can serve at least 200 families in the Bronx with food assistance, so are continuing to fundraise. Right now, through our mutual aid group - we have been working with over 100 people in need in our borough.

We are also happy to announce a partnership with the National Supermarket Association, which represents over 400 supermarkets across the United States, with several in the Bronx. The National Supermarket Association has pledged $2,000 to our fundraising efforts and is interested in raising even more with us in the near future. 

Also, we have now received the transfer of funds from GoFundMe and are in the process of purchasing the gift cards for families. We are also conducting outreach in the Bronx, in partnership with local community organizations, to ensure we reach as many families as possible.  

We also have this new platform, Open Collective, for our fundraising efforts. We want to be as transparent as possible, so we have moved to this platform because it has a 501c3 Fiscal Host to assist in managing our fundraising, data, and disbursements.

Our fundraising effort was recently featured on Bronxnet. You can see the interview here. We have also been working with a network of other mutual iad groups across the city to find best practices, help manage casework and share resources, you can find many of us on mutualaid.nyc!
