The EHF Community Collective is off to a great start!
Published on April 27, 2021 by Alanna Irving

Since launching the EHF Community Collective, we have seen an amazing outpouring of manaakitanga (generosity, support). So, first of all, a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed! Ngā mihi nui ki a koe.

Fellows can use our EHF Collective to fundraise, crowdfund, contribute to a shared financial resource pool, and run campaigns. The intention is to connect the range of resources across our network, rally mutual aid and better support initiatives that enrich the EHF community as a whole.

Campaigns

The campaign for Pekaira has now raised $18k out of $25k, an amazing show of aroha for someone who has been an advisor and tuakana for many in the EHF whānau. Just a little bit more to reach the goal! Please share the Pekaira campaign page and inspire others to koha.

We now have several campaigns running, to build up whakawhanaungatanga (connections) and make visible and sustainable the mahi (work) of community building.

Events

Did you know you can also run events through our Collective? They can be free, or you can use the payment features to sell tickets or recoup expenses. Peter hosted a mingling breakfast around EHF Anniversary Event in Wellington in March, and he found it really easy to get reimbursed for the kai. And HuddlesX Auckland is coming up this Friday—register now!

Kaitiaki Group

A group of fellows has put their hands up to become kaitiaki (guardians) of this Collective—Hannah Smith, Andrew Hoppin, and Janine Edge. They have created a draft FAQ, and the vision is really starting to take shape! Huge thanks to them for their work so far.

If you would like to join the kaitiaki group or offer to help less officially, pop into the #ehf-collective channel on Slack or contact the kaitiaki here

Call for proposals

There are many more fellows and working groups out there doing amazing mahi for our community who aren't yet being funded—we want to support you!

We believe in making this work visible, valued, and sustainable, and in the incredible latent energy and generosity of the EHF whānau, just waiting for the right invitation to emerge. Any fellow can start a campaign or event, so if you have an idea to improve and enrich our shared community, or if you're already doing this work, please get in touch so we can help you fundraise.
