Block Cop City

The Weelaunee Worldwide Mass Action Speaking Tour is coming to Democracy Creative tomorrow night, Oct. 5 at 6pm. Come learn about how we can support the historic multiracial struggle to save Atlanta's Weelaunee Forest from destruction by shutting down efforts to build a city-scale militarized police training facility on stolen Muscogee land.

This is a struggle against police, state, and corporate interests bent on building regional Cop Cities across the so-called US, in effort to build police capacity to violently repress the kind of radical uprisings we lived in 2020. What is happening in Atlanta impacts the future of policing in New England and beyond, so we absolutely have a stake in this.

Thursday's talk will focus on an upcoming effort to mobilize a mass action to shut down the Cop City construction site in November (Block Cop City). Food Not Cops will be there serving free delicious food, sharing literature, and connecting with folks looking to get involved with Mutual Aid efforts locally. Please come through and/or tell your friends!

BTV Copwatch Training

We will be holding a copwatch training on 10/12/23 in Burlington's City Hall Park, from 5:30-7:00pm. If you're new to filming the police, never had a formal training, or would like a refresher, we're going to be talking about how to effectively and legally film cops in public spaces.

If this timing doesn't work for you, but you or your friends want to learn more about copwatching, please reach out to us by sending an email to Open Collective, or DM'ing us on Instagram or Facebook!

Thank you!

In other news, Food Not Cops distro continues to serve foods and provide gear/supplies to our neighbors every single day in Burlington. Your contributions continue to sustain these efforts through some increasingly tough times and everyone involved could not be more grateful for your support!
