Community Cooking
Published on November 2, 2022 by BC

Come cook with us!

For the past three(ish) months, we've been offering five community cooking nights every week. These are a great opportunity to get involved, meet new people, get re-involved, or stay involved in the rad happenings at Food Not Cops. Community cooking grew out of a need to have consistent variety and quantity of food for distro. Preparing food for 30-50 people every day for nearly 1,000 days in a row takes a ton of work and community cooking has become crucial for the sustainability of our project.

All food is gathered either by donation, or food rescue prior to each night. There are different locations around town where everything is prepped and cooked, all while building connection with comrades who comprise our incredible community. The schedule offers a few options:

Mondays @ Loomis: 6pm - 8pm
Tuesdays @ Brad Pad: 7pm - 8:30pm
Wednesdays @ Pathways Community Center: 6pm - 8pm
Thursdays @ Moon Moon: 6pm - 8pm
Fridays @ Faried's (People's Kitchen): 4:30pm-6pm
Sundays @ The Hungerfort: 11am - 1pm

If you're interested in participating, please shoot an email to [email protected]. We can share exact addresses and connect. I mean, just check out this food:

If you are interested in hosting a cooking night, please also let us know. It's our dream to have all nights of cooking for distro covered. We can get you up to speed on how to organize community cooking!

Gear Update

Thanks very much to your generous contributions, we've been able to steadily share tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, sleeping pads, and other outdoor emergency camping gear throughout the summer. We need to do a final tally, but we were able to move a bunch of gear. Although we've been running lower on funds lately, the community continues to step up when we need each other most. This is the latest haul we're trying to distro this week.

Sneak Peak: MERCH COMING SOON!

Not too much to share yet, but we're going to be trying to send y'all some cool things in a little bit (not limited to items pictured).
