We are releasing our remaining funds.

Kind supporters,
It's a little over a year since we kicked off the discussion that became FOSS Responders. A lot of events were cancelled on short notice, and none of us really knew what came next. In that time, we raised more than $100,000 to support open source conference and event organizers who faced significant financial uncertainty and deep losses. With your support, we were able to mobilize and offset some of the financial impact of these cancellations.
After the UPLIFT! event last year, we still had about $10,000 left sitting in this collective, and we agreed to hold on to the funds through the winter, in case we received additional in-scope requests. Since we've not received additional requests for several months, we've decided to release the funds to an organization that provides paid internships for new open source contributors. We have invited the organization to submit an expense to the collective for the remaining balance of our funds. Those funds will give someone paid work that benefits all of us.
If you still have recurring donations set up for this collective, we encourage you to direct your donations to another collective that will put the money to good use. However, if funds continue to be donated to this collective, we will periodically review and redirect those funds so that they do not sit idle.
Thank you for your support, your trust, and your love. We called, and you came. We couldn't have done it without you!
