News from FOSS Responders

Updates on our activities and progress.

We are releasing our remaining funds.

Kind supporters, It's a little over a year since we kicked off the discussion that became FOSS Responders. A lot of events were cancelled on short notice, and none of us really knew what came next. In that time, we raised more than $100,000...

Open Collective is returning its fees for COVID-19 Solidarity Collectives

Published on March 17, 2020 by Pia Mancini

Hi! The Open Collective team has decided to give back 100% of the platform fees to this collective. It is complicated for us to programmatically do this, so the fees will be returned as a donation once a week. This is the reason why you'...

Our open source community has been affected by the whirlwind of change that has been the coronavirus. Many of us need financial help and many of us want to give. This collective is a place to do both.

If you are looking for help...
  • First, know you are not alone! This is a time of collective community and the best of open source  is by your side.
  • Second, whether an individual or an organization - we empathize with the hardship of these days and encourage you to ask for help. Visit us at and submit a request for support.
  • Third, we'll respond back. We're FOSS responders and that's what we're here for.
If there ever was a time to give, you know it's now...
  • First, thank you
  • Second, whether big or small, your contribution makes a difference. 100% of your donation will go to open source technologists in need. You help them, their families, and their work during this time.
  • Third, tell your neighbor and share you contribution with others! Together we can sustain the world.

In the midst of this pandemic – even as we isolate from one another – we are reminded that we are never alone. Our work come to our lives through community. Sometimes our community needs help and sometimes we are able to give. Now is a time to remember our interconnectedness. Now is a time to act.
