Action Req'd: Post an end-of-year "What's Up(date)"
Published on November 8, 2023 by Sade Swift
What's up, folks?
The Open Collective Foundation team invites (read: requires 🙃) each Collective to reflect on 2023 in the form of a public "What's Update" by the Winter Solstice, December 21.
Three Questions
We have three broad questions we would like you to answer:
1. What did you accomplish during 2023? How did you use money?
2. What challenges did you face during 2023? What did your Collective learn? How did you change or grow?
3. What are your plans for 2024? Anything exciting coming up?
The first question is for our annual required audit and is also required via the fiscal sponsorship agreement. We have the financial data in the platform, of course, but we also need a narrative description of what your Collective accomplished in the last year to go alongside it (even if the answer is "not much"). The others are for our team to learn from you and better support you moving forward.

Any Format
We invite you to get creative!
Feel free to link to a video, voice note, social media post, written essay, blog post, or some other format (spreadsheet essay, anyone? no?). Do whatever is most comfortable for you, answering the three above questions.
You can post this as an 'Update' on your Open Collective page by going to your Collective's URL > Connect > + New Update (detailed instructions here).

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share an exciting update regarding Room 143 Candle Company's recent endeavors.
Despite facing various hurdles with shipments and deliveries, I'm thrilled to report that our participation in the 2023 Black Boy Art Show's Pop-up shop was a resounding success. The event provided an incredible platform to showcase our products and connect with an engaged audience passionate about art and craftsmanship.
This experience has invigorated our team, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and resilience. Despite challenges, we're gearing up for an exciting year ahead. In 2024, Room 143 Candle Company plans to unveil a range of captivating new fragrances, each meticulously crafted to elevate and illuminate spaces in unique ways.
Moreover, due to the success of our recent Pop-up, we're enthusiastic about exploring more opportunities to engage with communities through additional Pop-up shops. These events not only allow us to showcase our products but also foster meaningful connections with our customers.
We deeply appreciate the support provided by the Open Collective Foundation, which has been instrumental in fueling our journey toward these accomplishments. Your continued belief in our vision motivates us to strive for greater heights.
Thank you for being a cornerstone of our progress. We look forward to sharing more updates and milestones with you in the near future.
Warm regards,
