We launched Four Athens in 2011 to provide a home for tech startups in Athens, Georgia and to keep their talent in our community. Between 2011 and 2015, with Jim Flannery and Nelson Wells at the helm, the incubator at Four Athens housed or launched 83 companies, over 10 of which had seed funding in their first 18 months. In 2014 Four Athens became a 501 (C)(3) non-profit. In 2017 Four Athens was rolled into local non-profit AthensMade where you can still find success stories of many local startup companies. James Flannery can be found teaching entrepreneurship at UGA, while Wells can be found running his music industry PR firm, Team Clermont.
