2021 has been an eventful year for FFFNYC. On September 24th, we had our first in person strike in almost 2 years, with 2,000 people attending, and incredible speakers including Jamie Margolin, Tokata Iron Eyes, Jerome Foster II, and Xiye Bastida. Our members worked diligently, holding meetings online or inperson weekly, and committing hours of work (sometimes up to 40 hours a week!) organizing with FFFNYC. We flyered at Farmer's Markets and on the streets, had two art builds, held a COP 26 vigil outside of the UN, worked with small businesses for our strike, and protested weekly outside of City Hall. Our members were featured in Vogue, the Harvard Political Review, the Bronx Times, Le Monde, and on CNN, The Weather Channel, Tokyo FM and PBS. We were also interviewed by students from the Columbia Journalism School, and NYU’s Journalism Institute, and two of our members were lucky enough to lecture at NYU. Thank you to our donors for making this work possible. 

In 2022, we're looking forward to planning a major strike around Earth Day, pressuring City Council to sign onto the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, focusing more on Anti-Racism, creating a mentorship program with older activists, and strengthening our School Ambassador Program. We'll strike every Friday outside of City Hall (from 4-6 pm!), have art builds, build our community, and fight for climate justice. We'll continue working alongside other climate organizations like Sunrise, Extinction Rebellion, 350 Brooklyn, DSA and Earth Guardians to pressure the government and corporations to prioritize our future. Climate action needs to be part of everything we do, and no one is too small to make a difference.
