About
Mahi Tahi is a 30-minute documentary co-produced by Happen Films and Papawhakaritorito Trust. A film about allyship and food sovereignty, it showcases how Māori and Pākehā growers are coming together to farm regeneratively, in order to heal both people and planet. This film will explore why allyship is necessary, what it looks like in practise, and why it's key to building a sustainable food system.
The phrase mahi tahi acknowledges the benefits gained when we come together to work on a shared task. Fostering stronger working relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous food sovereignty communities is critical to Aotearoa’s future food resilience and our capacity to grow and share quality food across the motu.
Sharing food is fundamental to human nature; sharing the mahi of fixing our food system is foundational to working together as allies across all areas of our lives.
