HCW@Home

Open-source project for secure teleconsultation system with builtin chat, audio, and video (WebRTC), built with healthcare pros for scalable telemedicine.

About

HCW@Home is an open-source telemedicine platform designed to support healthcare providers and humanitarian organizations in delivering secure, reliable, and accessible care. Originally developed with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), the solution was born from award-winning hackathons in 2017 and has since grown into a mature platform tested in real-world conditions. Today, HCW@Home provides secure video consultations, messaging, and collaboration features tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals working in diverse and often challenging environments.

HCW@Home is officially recognized as a Digital Public Good, which highlights its alignment with open standards, accessibility, and social impact. We work with a wide range of contributors, from humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross to students from initiatives like Code 4 GovTech, who bring fresh perspectives and energy to the project. Our strength lies in this diversity—combining medical expertise, technical know-how, and a strong spirit of collaboration.

By keeping HCW@Home open source, we ensure that innovation remains transparent, collaborative, and accessible to everyone who wants to contribute. Recognized as a Digital Public Good, the project stands as a shared resource for the global community.
