About
We aim to address and improve the long term health conditions of people living in Walworth. It has been identified that money amongst other contributing factor can negatively affect our health. (Wilson & Marmot 2003)*. There are disparities between wealthy (affluent) areas in the borough of Southwark compared to less wealthy areas as shown by the information gathered about the community of Walworth.
Education around money and financial management that is helpful for real life circumstances are not being taught in our schools or communities. With the majority of people leaving school not being taught how to plan their finances and take control of their money, many find themselves in unhealthy positions when it comes to health and finances. We want to help eradicate the fact that financial health is linked to emotional traumas and poor self image.
Through personal lived experiences and discussion amongst the ideas team. We aim to address some of the issues with mindset, beliefs, habits and attitudes towards money. This will help members of the community to better understand how it is impacting their income, wellbeing and health. Improving knowledge and wisdom within the community will empower and enable people to make better decisions and to be in control of their health when it involves finances.
