The Herne Hill Solidarity fund provides financial support to Herne Hill residents who are struggling financially, whether as a direct result of COVID-19 or not. This fund can be used for anything, from buying groceries to paying for prescriptions.
There is neither judgement nor is there an obligation to pay back the money. This is run in direct accordance with principles of mutual aid - “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need”.
You can apply for funds of up to £50 per application. If your application is approved, you will not be able to apply again until the following calendar month (until 30 days after the last request), to ensure that we can approve expenses for as many people as possible.
To be eligible for funds, you need to be a resident of Herne Hill, living in the postcode SE24. We will need you to upload proof of address, but we do not request invoices, bills or receipts for how you have spent the fund. Instead, we ask you to use the fund in good faith. If you want to remain anonymous, you can upload your initials when asked for your full name.
There is no criteria to getting or not getting funds. If you live within the SE24 postcode and have proof of address, and providing we have the funds available, funds will be allocated to you. Funds are allocated to applications in the order we receive the application (unless in exceptional circumstances).
Be aware that when uploading your personal data into this fund, your data is covered by the privacy policy of the Open Collective, who are based in the US, and as such data protection is covered by US law rather than UK and EU data laws.
