Nov 2021 Update
Published on November 29, 2021 by Monica Komperda
Hello everyone!
Thank you for the support you’ve offered Irving Park Mutual Aid. In the past few months we’ve continued our work with our community. Since June, we’ve distributed over $2,500 to 10 community members. This money was used to keep people's utilities (gas, electricity) on, and to pay back rent for people facing eviction.
Additionally we’ve spent nearly $330/mo on supplies like baby wipes, diapers, disinfectant, soap, and toilet paper. These items have been delivered regularly to roughly 15 families across Irving Park.
Thank you again - the support we’ve received has allowed us to reach more people than we thought we could. To do more for our community than we thought we could.
In the coming months, we’ll be continuing our main mission: delivering food to community members who need it. We are still operating our distro days out of a parking lot in Belmont-Craigin and our food storage out of Urban Canopy in Pilsen. We will continue to do so till the larger Northwest Mutual Aid group moves into a new warehouse space.
Lots of progress has been made in securing the new space. The Northwest Mutual Aid group has finalized the last few details of the lease agreement, and are working on securing liability insurance. We don’t have a move in date finalized yet, but expect to have news in the coming weeks on that.
If there is more you’d like to hear about, please let us know. If you are interested in volunteering with us, or if you need any support - please email us: [email protected].
Thank you again, and we plan to share another update in the coming weeks.
In community,
Mo
