Kauri Pod is a New Zealand–based social initiative created to support people who are homeless or rough sleeping by providing safe, portable, weather-resistant emergency sleep pods when no other options are available.

The idea came from lived experience and frontline observation — when shelters are full, services are overwhelmed, and people are left with no safe place to sleep. Kauri Pod exists to bridge that gap with immediate, practical help that restores dignity and personal safety.

Each Kauri Pod is designed to be:

Portable and foldable into a backpack

Solar-assisted for USB charging

Safer than makeshift bedding or tents
