Exploded Views - Teaser
Published on March 13, 2023 by Martin Mueller

Your feedback after announcing the Exploded View as the main new feature for version 5.0.0 has been overwhelming.  For a better understanding of this feature, Boris has prepared a short teaser (see below).

Exploded view will be just one of many new features:
  • printing labels in the cutting diagram order,
  • copying material with all attributes,
  • exporting/importing presets,
  • adding veneers to sheet goods,
  • finer estimates (used/not used) in the estimate/report.
OpenCutList 5.0.0 is not yet ready for release, but we will try to make it happen as soon as possible after the financial objective of 6'000.- US $ has been reached. As of this writing and thanks to your generosity, we just passed the 75% mark of our goal.

Wishing you all the best!

Great Job.
It will be great if you can add the Group name to the labels.

Hi Sebastian,
You talk about small labels in exploded view or for an element on printable labels ?

After searching for information on why the Drawing feature is not working as advertised, the news post on 3/13/2023 shows that it is not operational due to funding goals not being achieved.  I find this to be unprofessional to advertise a feature that is NOT operational and should have been disclosed in the add-in description.

Hi Arvid,

I am truly sorry for this misunderstanding, but the first sentence says it:

Among the many new features we would like to implement for version 5.0.0 is the Exploded View.

Currently the programming of this feature is 90% done, so very close to completion. We need to thoroughly test it (SketchUp 2018 - 2023, Windows/Mac) and make sure that all supported languages are complete (thanks to a growing team of translators).

We would like to keep OpenCutList as open/free as possible, but it takes a huge amount of time to add new and complex features. The continued development of OpenCutList is only possible because some users find it useful enough to generously contribute. Even if this contribution pays a fraction of the time we spend, it encourages us to continue to make OpenCutList available and supported.

Hi Arvid,

We never say that this feature is yet available. We just said that we plan to add it in the next 5.0 release.

OpenCutList is a crowdfunding-only project.

Every major OpenCutList releases follow the same funding process :
1. we announce the main features we think it's good to implement and the crowdfunding goal.
2. when the crowdfunding goal is reached, we do the job.
3. when the job is completed, we publish the new release and then it's available for everybody and for free.

Sorry if you misunderstood the business model of OpenCutList.

HI Boris
I am thinking of the actual labels , when you adding a text field , And to add Group Name in there will be a massive help. Thanks

Hi Sebastian,
Did you try to use the Instance path ?

Je vois que je ne suis pas le seul à utiliser des couleurs marquées pour vérifier les chants à plaquer :)
