Next Feature for 6.0.0: Export to SVG, DXF
Published on September 13, 2023 by Martin Mueller
We have just published OpenCutList version 5.0.4. Click the Update button from within OpenCutList, but remember to restart SketchUp!
This is the third minor release after 5.0.0. The fixes in these releases are listed in the ChangeLog. We recommend this upgrade to all users.

What's next?
We are currently prototyping 2 new features that may be part of version 6.0.0.
- The first feature would allow exporting cutting diagrams to SVG or DXF.
- The second feature could be a SmartExporter to export 2D and 3D OpenCutList parts to various file formats (SVG for Shaper Origin, DXF, STL, OBJ).
The financial goal for these features has been set to USD 8'000.-. Your financial contribution to OpenCutList will help us make it better and faster!

Happy woodworking!

Hi Quentin,
Thank you 😊
By redesigning you would say to export the true part shape too ?
Yes, SmartExporter will convert Arcs and Circles to arc path in SVG and ellipse in DXF. But of course only if arcs or circles were not exploded in SketchUp :)

Hi, I saw that you want to export DXF from the software, it's a great thing! The thing is, that there is no drilling or pocket on the parts. So there won't be much use for DXF. It would be really really useful to also have shapes on the part in the drawing to post process with VCURVE for example Thanks for OCL ! shai

Hi Shai,
Yes it should be the final target to export the full part shape with its holes. But there some question to solve before. SketchUp doesn't store any data about that then what is a hole ? what is a groove ? and what is that ?

hi Boris ! thanks for the reply , well as a user in solidworks Swood - Topsolid wood - cabinet vision an more (: i can tell you the best simple way:
same as the hardware assign material as the name of the operation and this will be the same layer name in the dxf .
this way you can go to vcurve or alphacam very simple.
hope im helping

For smartexplorer one challenge would be for curves to be exported in smooth Bézier curves, as SketchUp by default draw with a limited number of segrment when you draw a circle or a an arc.
thanks for the great work and pushing further this great tool of yours
