Announcing the goals of OpenCutList 7.0
Published on October 22, 2024 by Boris Beaulant

We have just released version 6.3.0, which includes the Vietnamese translation and addresses some bugs. This is the last release in the 6.x branch.

Now it's time to announce our ambitious plans for version 7.0!

Since the first version, we have been committed to making OpenCutList a tool that is both simple and powerful to meet professional needs. Always listening to you, we try to propose improvements that will be of interest to the greatest number.

In return, we would like to remind you that OpenCutList is entirely built on a collective effort. Your contributions are essential to the project's success.

We rely on the volunteer translators who provide invaluable support in translating our work, as well as the financial backing of our donors, who enable us to dedicate time and resources to developing and supporting the project.

Version 7.0 will bring fundamental improvements. We are rewriting the cutting diagram module to add nesting, creating smart drawing tools and integrating the outliner.
We have set the minimum threshold to fund this version at $20,000.

The campaign is now launched. Join us in making this great project a reality by making your contribution today.

Happy woodworking!

Hi!
As a professionell user of cuttinglist and a small contributor, I have a suggestion: Could you add in the possibility to get xy coordinates for the cutting diagrams? Would be really powerful to use your OpenCutlist together with some minor programing (in excel) to get efficient CNC codes, for an highly productive setup for cheaper CNCs.

Thanks!

Hi TBG,

I'm curious. Can you describe with example your request in a new conversation ?

Hola.

Salutos

Dear
@Boris Beaulant

It will be very beneficial for us if it is possible to add boring and drilling in
OpenCutList 7.0

Hello Mukul mia,

I completely understand the need. But for the moment OpenCutList is keeping the course of being a general tool that goes beyond the field of furniture. Which means that the development of advanced tools for the creation of assemblies is not currently the core of its functionality. It's mainly an exporter.
I know ABF does this very well. But in that case, why not use ABF?

Hi Boris,

I had to create an account on here just to say how much I appreciate your work, I am a small contributor and will be contributing more. Open Cutlist is one of the best, most professional and well made extensions for any programme I have ever come across. The new updates coming when you raise the funds are just sublime. I encourage people to get this financing over the line as the value to peoples business far outweigh the cost. Please keep doing this amazing work, especially when companies like Autodesk are trying to charge thousands for basic functionality even when already paying £600 a year, yes Fusion I'm talking about you. I therefore export to sketchup just to use open cutlist to help me keep costs down when ordering materials.

Bravo and keep it up.

Thank you.
