Spring - the season of new beginnings

It's been a busy few weeks for Love North Southwark as we settle into our new home in Cherry Garden Hall. The new location is working well. We've been able to set up the Food Pantry in an attractive (and Covid compliant!) manner with tables, shelving and a deep freezer. Then last week, thanks to the kindness of one particular donor, our glass fridge finally arrived which sparked much joy amongst our volunteer crew. It's now fully stocked and ready for the week ahead.
We've also been busy making sure people know the Food Pantry is open through leaflets and social media, as well as via the most trusty source of all - word of mouth. This has led to a more regular flow of visitors each week. As a reminder, our opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am - 1pm. Entry is by appointment only (for Covid reasons) and each visitor is able to buy 15 items for £5 including fresh fruit and veg, frozen food, tins, diary products and some household items.
We've also set up an advice corner on Thursdays from 11am-1pm for those who may benefit from some initial support and signposting on various practical matters like council tax, rent payments etc. We have a small selection of books for those who are missing the library and want to escape into a good read.
As well as the food pantry, we are continuing to do our regular food parcel drop offs to those who are continuing to shield or who need extra food support in our community. If you know someone who needs our help, let us know.
Thank you for your continued support of our work. We are particularly grateful to our donors - large and small, our remarkable and committed volunteer crew and the considerable support we've received from the local community and businesses. We are keen to get some bags for life made for our visitors to limit our environmental impact. If you know anyone who can help us with this endeavour, please drop us a line. Thank you in advance!
