Giving Tuesday 2022
Published on November 29, 2022 by Mauricio Piratova
Dear Friends,
The Love Wins Food Pantry has had an incredible year serving our communities. Since January 2022, we have supported 11,510 households across New York City. We remain one of the
few non-religious food pantries in our neighborhood; we are also one of the few queer centric and volunteer led, ensuring that we reflect the community we serve.Β
This year has had its share of setbacks as well. When the city budget was approved in July,
crucial support that had been provided to community food pantries during the pandemic was
eliminated. While the Love Wins Food Pantry has recently been accepted into the Community Food Connection (CFC) program, it will provide us with much less support.
Inflation has also had a devastating effect; the increased cost of food has limited our ability to purchase groceries. Because of this, with a heavy heart we have had to reduce our weekly distributions to be every other week, depriving our community of the sustenance and support at a time when their need is increasing as they grapple with their own food costs.
As the winter months set in, it is vital that theΒ Love Wins Food Pantry has the funds to continue its work. This holiday season, please consider making a tax-deductible donation through our fiscal sponsor Open Collective. The Love Wins Food Pantry has been a lifeline to our neighbors, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or immigration status. Please give today to fight food insecurity.
Warmly,
The Love Wins Family
