About
LuminusOS began as a college idea in mid-2020, with the goal of making Linux more welcoming to newcomers. We aim to provide a beautiful, native, KISS-focused operating system with sensible defaults and helpful software that makes installation, configuration, and everyday use easier. More than an OS, LuminusOS is an open-source ecosystem built around simplicity, accessibility, consistency, and a great out-of-the-box experience.
What we build
- A beginner-friendly desktop operating system based on GNOME and Fedora, with an immutable base.
- Aurora Shell and other tools that make up the Luminus desktop experience.
- Free software: unless stated otherwise, everything we publish is licensed under the GPLv3.
How funds are used
- Development of Luminus OS and its ecosystem.
- Infrastructure such as builds, hosting and distribution.
- Growing and supporting our community.
