Crowdfunding: Student anthology on Palestine

The ongoing crisis in Gaza has not only sparked an unprecedented level of political engagement amongst students worldwide, but also a keen interest amongst students at Swedish universities in issues relating to Palestine. As a result, the demand for knowledge continues to grow, and this is what this anthology project wishes to capture. The primary aim of this anthology is to create a platform where students from universities across Sweden can present their work collectively and provide an insight into academic knowledge production. The tentative title of this book is: Palestine in Discourse and Struggle – Contributions from Swedish Universities.

This project comprises of a team of 14 students, 6 academics, and 2 project assistants from different academic institutions across Sweden who have worked together since 2025. In this project, some student authors have chosen to present new concepts and methodological approaches, discuss current research, highlight critical issues or offer recommendations for future research. Meanwhile, our academic team, who are also the editors, have worked to develop the analytical voice and concise language required for scholarly knowledge production. The result is a finished manuscript where each individual chapter demonstrates how the authors engage creatively and critically with topics related to Palestine and solidarity at Swedish higher education institutions.

At the moment, the final manuscript has been copyedited and is ready for production. We have received preliminary offer from Kimpa Vita Press & Publishers (a non-profit publisher from Trondheim, Norway) to publish 300 physical copies of the book. For this to become a reality, we need to raise around 24 500 to 30 500 Norwegian kroner, which is equal to approximately 26 000 to 32 000 Swedish kronor by the start of holiday seeson 2026 (around November). At the moment, we are applying for a publishing grant to cover this amount. However, we would like to run this crowdfunding campaign in parallel to ensure that we secure the amount needed as soon as possible in case the grant application is rejected.

All money raised from this campaign will be used for the production of the book, and we will use any remaining amount for promotional work (such as a book launch party) and for donation toward humanitarian work in Palestine. We have also chosen to use all royalty earned from the book to help with humanitarian work in Palestine.
