Sponsors Update - February 2025
Published on March 9, 2025 by Ruth Cheesley
Hello to all our wonderful supporters of Mautic!
I hope that you're all well wherever you are in the world and enjoying 2025 so far.
I've recently published our Open Startup Report for February over on the website, so please take a look to learn what we've been up to across the project last month.
I'd like to thank everyone who has reached out with feedback on the new website - it's great to hear how positively it's been received, and also to have more members signing up to support Mautic as a result.
Releases
This month saw us releasing 5.2.2 with 14 bug fixes and 3 security fixes, and also the first Extended Long Term Support release, 4.4.14. This means that if you're running Mautic 4 instances you're vulnerable to three moderate to critical reported vulnerabilities.
Please seriously consider either upgrading to Mautic 5 or, if you need a bit more time, purchasing an Extended Long Term Support license for your instance. You can purchase for one or two years, which ensures that any security issues impacting Mautic 4 will be fixed and released to you during that time. Read more and sign up for ELTS for Mautic 4 here.
Mautic 6.0.0-beta was delayed by just over a week and launched in March due to some problems when updating from Mautic 5 to Mautic 6 which emerged in our release pipeline which tests automatically whether an update from the previous version of Mautic has been successful. Please help us by testing the release!
No Google Summer of Code this year
We applied for the Google Summer of Code but this year we were unfortunately rejected due to the high number of applications - we'll keep trying! The projects we had selected are all things we would like to see in Mautic, so if any organization is interested in sponsoring them to enable us to mentor a student outside of GSoC please let me know.
Gitpod sunsetting its hosted offering
We also heard this month that GitPod (which we rely on heavily in our testing workflows for code and also documentation reviews in the cloud) is sunsetting its hosted service - originally in April but now being pushed back to September - which we were accessing as an open source project. Thankfully after putting out the news to the community we quickly had a contribution to enable GitHub Codespaces, so we'll shortly be updating our documentation to reflect those changes.
Should we hold Mautic Conference Global?
Discussions are currently ongoing in the Community Team as to whether we organise an online conference - Mautic Conference Global - this year, or instead focus just on the in-person event in November and offer it as a hybrid event. We're very short on contributors in the team which is also influencing the decision. We'd love to hear your feedback via the form at https://mauticon.mautic.org as to your thoughts on this - it should only take a few minutes to complete.
We're hiring!
We have a job advertisement which has just closed for applications, where we're recruiting for a Junior Sales and Marketing Assistant to work with me on developing our memberships, ELTS and other revenue streams, alongside growing Mautic's product-focused marketing and supporting the Marketing Team. It's a very central role in helping us to achieve our ambitious growth goals this year. This role will be employed through our Fiscal Host, Open Source Collective, using remote.com so we are open to applications worldwide and it'll be a fully remote position.
We're reviewing the applications next week so watch this space for news and updates!
That's it from me, I hope you have a great month ahead!
