Introducing Communiqué
Published on August 3, 2021 by Sam Whited

Today we're announcing Communiqué, a new XMPP client with a Terminal User Interface (TUI) developed cooperatively under the Mellium umbrella!

Though Communiqué is still in a very early stage of development, it's ready to be tried out (by developers) right now. You can find the source code at https://github.com/mellium/communique-tui.

Right now the clients features are extremely limited, but we're beginning to think about a roadmap towards an official release and what features should be included.

Truth be told, we've had Communiqué on the back burner for a long time as a client where we'd experiment with new extensions and UI ideas, but until recently we weren't planning on ever developing it into a full client. However, that has changed and it's now ready for contributors and even some basic use cases!

We'll be doing a live demo of the client at 1600 UTC today, 3rd August 2021 for the XMPP Office Hours if you'd like to see it in action: https://opencollective.com/mellium/events/xmpp-office-hours-preview-of-communique-2335a841
