What if the majority of global social, environmental, and economic issues had a common root cause? What if, unaware of this connection, we scatter our focus across countless individual problems instead of addressing the underlying issue?
Consider this scenario: Your apartment is flooding, water pouring incessantly from the ceiling onto your couch. Would you keep mopping without checking in with your neighbor? Probably not.
Henry David Thoreau once said, “For every thousand hacking at the leaves of evil, there is one striking at the root.” We are a rapidly growing community of activists determined to strike at the root of escalating global issues. Our diverse ranks include farmers, designers, architects, systems thinkers, engineers, programmers, storytellers, marketers, writers, filmmakers, organizers, activists, educators, poets, artists, musicians, neighbors, parents, siblings, and more. We are a global social movement committed to tangible, structural change—a beacon of hope against despair.
Our mission? Nothing less than the unthinkable. We aim to inspire, educate, and connect, building an economic system that actually works—a system grounded in modern scientific understanding. This adaptive, upgradable, equitable, and pro-social system seeks equilibrium with planetary life-supporting systems while enhancing the quality of life, promoting deep healing, and addressing historical trauma, pain, and fear.
As our organization's name suggests, our focus is on the current socio-economic ideology, often summarized as a monetary market paradigm. Intentionally avoiding the term "system," we highlight the lack of interconnected understanding and feedback mechanisms in the existing global economic paradigm. Unlike a true system, the current model lacks organization and goal-setting, driven solely by the addictive pursuit of "more."
This pervasive value set has eroded our basic humanity, replacing compassionate, kind, sympathetic, generous, and cooperative behavior with a relentless pursuit of profit. The consequence is evident in the litany of issues we face, contributing to a slow-motion economic and environmental collapse. To step back from the precipice, we need to acknowledge that contemporary activism must undergo a complete overhaul. We have moved beyond mere critique and talk; it is time for action.
The solution lies in building a parallel economy that unconditionally addresses our basic human needs—where meals, shelter, and health are not contingent on exchanging labor for money. Leveraging our collaborative nature and innate desire to thrive, we aim to construct a parallel economy that meets humanity’s fundamental needs and beyond.
It’s time to transition from this economic nightmare to an intelligent, Resource-Based Economy, employing mutual aid networks, decentralized coordination and governance models, technological innovation, and community organization.
