About

We've created the only recognised ND friendly space in York.

We have created the opportunity for us to come together   weekly, monthly, and on an ad-hoc basis.
We meet predominately in person, and create a non-hierarchical space with accommodations for people's specific sensory needs which we discover together.

We are using digital social spaces to facilitate conversations and organise meetups both online and in person.

The NDC started because of the negative ramifications of loneliness, ostracisation, mental ill health, lack of friendships, intolerance/ignorance of the general public, and a lack of facilitation or opportunity in the local area to connect with other ND people in real life who are experiencing similar life circumstances.

We hold an ambition to establish an ND festival - York is a city of festivals; it is historically and currently well-known for leading social change. We will establish an annual tradition of celebrating the community and promoting awareness of who and why we are as we are.

We welcome neurodivergent people who are self-identified, on the diagnosis pathway, or already diagnosed.

As we an intergenerational group, the more we connect and bring ideas together, the more obvious the needs of certain groups of people are emerging.
We aim in time to connect partnership and funding opportunities across the city and wider areas to better meet these needs.
We welcome communication from anyone with ideas, experience or who have contributions to offer in this regard.
