About
There is a lie that almost every one of us tells ourselves - "I'm going to remember that for later". The truth is, with our lives becoming more and more packed with information and more knowledge-heavy, you will not remember anything for later. Instead, your memory will become clogged, you will always feel as if there is something you've forgotten about and your life will feel unfulfilling.
Not only knowledge itself holds great value, our ability to process and recall that information is equally important. Without tools and aids, our brains are not built for storing information about the whole entire world. Our brains' core focuses are to create and to come up with new solutions, not to retain mountains of information about old solutions.
But how do we achieve a pure state of an "organized life" in a sea of different "life changing" organizational tools? Which tool is the best for my use case?
The harsh reality is that the vast majority of these tools treat their users like robots. "Our organization tool lets you take notes in Markdown files and create links between them" - but what if I have a small thought that I would like to recall later without having to rummage through lots of files? What if I don't want to give my document a title because I haven't built out the idea yet? What if I would like to differentiate ideas from notes and notes from archived tasks? This doesn't even scratch the surface of task management, calendars, deadlines, etc...
The real and truly helpful tools are the ones that understand that we're all just human. Such tools are few and far apart. Over here at Neorg we aim to build a tool that connects the best aspects of all organizational tools while never forgetting that our brains are not simple machinery and do not all behave the same. Neorg runs on an extensible file format (norg) that is built for every use case - small ideas to entire project plans, simple tasks to full workflows, slideshows and presentations, academic writing with LaTeX - all in a small and memorable syntax.
If you would like to help us on this journey, then this collective is the place to be! Check out the behind the scenes of our work and what we're doing to make everyone's lives easier to manage.
