About
Nosweithia Vogue was founded in 2023 in Wales by Raven 007 as a response to a burning need: an open-to-all Kiki function rooted in community, resistance, and radical joy.
Nosweithia Vogue exists to centre and celebrate Black and Brown LGBTQ+ people, especially those who have historically been pushed to the margins — trans people, queer people, working-class people. From day one, community has been at the heart of everything we do. We are not just an event — we are united, a chosen family, a space of hope.
In the face of hostile political rulings and institutional attacks on trans lives, we have chosen not retreat but resistance. When the state attempts to silence us, we respond by bringing people into a room together — to celebrate trans existence, to hold one another, to share hope, and to organise through joy. Celebration itself becomes protest.
Ballroom has always been resistance. It was built by and for fem queens — Black and Latina trans women — who created their own spaces when they were excluded everywhere else. Inspired by figures like Crystal LaBeija, who refused racism in mainstream pageantry and forged a new path for community-led liberation, we honour that legacy every time we open our doors.
When members of the ballroom scene walk our runway, we celebrate more than performance — we celebrate survival. We honour every person who has faced oppression from the state, from institutions, from society. Each category is an act of self-definition. Each step is liberation. Each function is a declaration: we are here, we are loved, and we are unstoppable.
Nosweithia Vogue believes diversity is not a buzzword — it is a celebration. Our space uplifts chosen family, mutual care, and collective power. We are building a Wales where ballroom thrives, where trans and queer people are centred, and where Black and Brown excellence is not just included but honoured.
