Published on January 27, 2025 by Watchara Amasiri

We are proud to share the incredible success of the New Packet Radio (NPR) Event held at the picturesque Lam Pao Dam! This event marked a significant step forward in advancing innovative communication solutions for disaster preparedness in Thailand. The turnout was extraordinary, with enthusiastic participation from amateur radio operators, disaster communication experts, volunteers, students, and representatives from various organizations.

Event Highlights:

  1. Hands-On NPR Demonstrations:
Attendees experienced live demonstrations of New Packet Radio (NPR) technology, showcasing its capabilities in creating high-speed, reliable communication networks over amateur radio frequencies. These demonstrations emphasized NPR's potential for establishing robust data links in remote and disaster-affected areas.
  2. Go Box Deployments in Action:
The team conducted live Go Box deployments, simulating real-life emergency scenarios to illustrate how these portable communication kits can ensure connectivity during disasters. These hands-on sessions empowered participants with practical skills to assemble, deploy, and manage Go Boxes effectively.
  3. Interactive Workshops and Knowledge Sharing:
Our workshops covered NPR node building, system integration, and troubleshooting techniques. Participants engaged in vibrant discussions, exchanging ideas and learning from experts in telecommunications and emergency communication.
  4. Collaborative Panel Discussions:
Experts from the field shared valuable insights during panel discussions on topics like the role of NPR in disaster management, regulatory frameworks, and fostering collaboration between amateur radio operators and local authorities. The Q&A sessions sparked meaningful dialogue and creative solutions.
  5. Community Engagement:
The event served as a platform to strengthen community bonds, with participants networking and exploring opportunities for future collaborations. The energy and passion shared by attendees were inspiring and reinforced the importance of our collective mission.

Key Achievements:

  • Increased Awareness and Adoption of NPR Technology: The enthusiastic response from participants highlighted the growing interest in NPR as a transformative tool for emergency communication.
  • Empowering Local Communities: The event equipped attendees with the knowledge and skills to utilize NPR and Go Boxes, fostering resilience and self-reliance in disaster response.
