About
Open Note Block Studio (originally "Minecraft Note Block Studio") is an open-source desktop app which makes it easy to arrange note block songs and import them into Minecraft. NBS was created way back in 2011 by Swedish developer David Norgren — however, it was only in 2019, through the hands of Hielke, that it would become open-source.
Since then, NBS has been used in hundreds of creations, some of which have gathered millions of views. We have a thriving community of over 2k members on Discord, where tens of songs are shared every week. The program has also surpassed the impressive mark of 400k downloads, and is behind the music for some of the largest and most popular Minecraft servers, such as Hypixel and Wynncraft.
Over the course of 10+ releases, we have built hundreds of new features, bugfixes, and improvements. And this is only the beginning! We have huge plans for the future of the project — including a full rewrite using a better UI framework, which will allow lots of further improvements (you can read more about it here).
However, developing NBS takes a lot of volunteer time and effort. In order to make the project sustainable in the long run, we ask you for your support towards this goal! Contributions will be used to directly support the project, helping us make improvements to the NBS ecosystem at a faster pace. This includes:
- directly supporting developers;
- covering current and future website costs;
- acquiring new equipment for testing;
- commissioning possible future design and development work;
- merch (possibly!).
Thank you so much for your interest in supporting the project! 💚🎶
