About

The Open Resin Alliance (ORA) is an open source organization dedicated to advancing resin 3D printing through open collaboration, accessible technology, and community driven development.

Founded in 2024, the Open Resin Alliance was created with a simple goal: to help build an open ecosystem for resin 3D printing. While open source has played a major role in the development of FDM printing, much of resin printing has remained tied to proprietary hardware, closed software, and restricted file formats.

We believe resin 3D printing should be open to everyone.

The Alliance brings together developers, engineers, makers, and enthusiasts to develop the software, hardware, standards, and tools needed for an open resin printing ecosystem. Rather than creating isolated projects, ORA aims to provide a common foundation that anyone can use, modify, and contribute to.

Our projects include Orion, our open source printer interface, Odyssey, our printing engine, and DragonFruit, our high performance resin slicer. Together, these projects form parts of a growing ecosystem designed to give users greater control over their printers and the software that powers them.

At the heart of ORA is the belief that open source is more than a license. It is a way of developing technology that encourages transparency, experimentation, collaboration, and long term community ownership.
We want to make it possible for anyone to understand how their resin printer works, improve it, build upon it, and contribute to its development.

Open resin printing. Built together.
