New OSC Team Member
We’re thrilled to welcome Caitlin Dourmashkin to the Open Source Collective team! 🎉
Caitlin joins OSC with a background in nonprofit operations, program development, local economic development, and managing fiscal sponsorship programs. She’ll be taking the lead on several core areas of our fiscal hosting program, including finances and improving internal operations.
At OSC, Caitlin will be helping us strengthen our services for hosted projects and explore new ways to support the open source ecosystem. Her thoughtful approach and deep commitment to mission-driven work make her a fantastic addition to the team, and we’re so glad to have her on board.Â
Please join us in giving Caitlin a warm welcome when you see her around Open Collective, on email, or in Discord!!
PayPal Update
We want to share an update about the use of PayPal for expense payments. While PayPal has been helpful for some payees, we've encountered ongoing challenges that have led us to reassess its role. As a result, we’re introducing a limit of $600 USD per payout for PayPal expenses. For larger amounts, you'll need to use a bank account in your name or set up a Wise account. This goes into effect the week of August 11, 2025.
We don’t anticipate significant disruption as more than half of payees already use Wise or a bank account, and our hosted member projects tend to prefer it due to lower fees and broader country coverage compared to PayPal.Â
This change is part of our ongoing efforts to keep payment processing fair, transparent, and sustainable. We ask that projects inform their payees in advance if the payee typically uses PayPal, so they can plan accordingly.

If you have any questions or concerns, as always feel free to reach out at [email protected].
All Things Open Tickets Available!
If you’re an admin of an OSC-hosted project and interested in attending All Things Open this October in North Carolina (US), OSC has a discount available when purchasing tickets! Please email us at [email protected], and we'll share more.
Also, if cost is a barrier, please don’t hesitate to reach out; we may be able to support you through our conference attendance offering. And if you do have funding, we also have access to discounted tickets.Â
