Pioneer of Proof of Stake
Launched in 2012, Peercoin is the first and longest running proof-of-stake blockchain. It is a fairly distributed, open-source and community-driven project. Peercoin is designed around the concepts of energy and economical sustainability, both made possible by its innovation of proof-of-stake consensus.
The Peercoin Foundation
This collective is managed by the Peercoin Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2018 with the mission of promoting and supporting the continued development and overall progression of the Peercoin project. Funds donated to this collective will be used to push the project forward. Expenses can range from paying for the salaries of developers, marketing initiatives and new listings on exchanges.
