About
PHL Laundry Support started in summer 2020 when the protest encampment, Camp JTD, was formed on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The goal was to supply clean laundry to residents of the encampment and the Covid Prevention Hotel. Since then, the laundry system has transformed to meet the demands of the community following being violently scattered across the city due to the closing of the encampment . We now pick up and drop off laundry from remote locations across the city for unhoused and housing insecure folks in our mutual aid network. With the continuous support of the community, we have been able to do 1000+ loads of laundry, and provide supplies to folks in need. We are continuously in need of donations due to the financial demands of laundry support. All donation money goes towards using washers/dryers at the laundromat, putting support packages together, and laundry supplies. We are part of a growing ecosystem of mutual aid in Philadelphia, much of it coordinated by helpfuljellyfish.
