Apologies for the delay since our last update. A lot of our time with fundraising has been occupied with working out the bugs of transferring to our new fiscal sponsor Since we moved over things have been going great and we are very appreciative of the wonderful technical assistance provided by the Open Collective team. We have also been busy with other exciting projects such as the new Symbiosis Solidarity Stichers Collective who helped us make, collect and distribute 600 masks to those in need before May Day. Because of your support amazing projects such as this were able to get the funds they needed to get off the ground, but that's not all...
We are happy to announce that as of today we have dispersed over $22,000 to 73 community members in need and to unfunded grassroots projects who serve the most vulnerable. These solidarity funds have made the difference in the lives of many people fleeing domestic violence situations, individuals with dire medical needs and many others in difficult situations who have lost work due to the crisis. We have continued great partnerships with community organizations like VOZ where we have been able to provide solidarity funds to many immigrant workers who have few options for financial assistance. We look forward to being able to continue our funding for groups like Rosehip Medic Collectives community manufactured hand sanitizer program, the Covid-19 Mutual Aid Hub at the Social Justice Action Center (updates here) and to begin focusing in on supporting indigenous communities in the area who have been hardest hit by the crisis in the coming months.
We look forward to being able to continue this great work that we consider all of our backers an essential part of! We are making a huge difference and showing what is possible when we come together as a community. Let's keep it up!
