About

The Queens Road fund has now merged with the SE15 Community Fund. This will help us pool resources with an aim of better helping neighbours in the SE15 area. Other than this merger, everything remains unchanged and people can still access the fund as normal.

Thank you!

About us
The Queens Road Peckham Mutual Aid group was founded as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak as a means to support those most at risk within our community. The outbreak and spread of coronavirus has shone a light on the deep economic inequalities in society and lack of funding into our health & social care systems. These deficiencies existed before and will continue to exist afterward. Our aim is to deliver support to all residents of Queens Road Peckham and Nunhead ward and to strengthen the local networks needed to develop a fairer and healthier society.

We commit to supporting one another in a range of ways from grocery shopping and medication collections, to admin tasks and emotional support. Whatever someone’s needs, the group will do their best to help, or find someone who can – and do it in the safest way possible. This includes but is not limited to personal financial grants, shopping and domestic tasks, signposting, advocacy and companionship.

The group is not built on the idea of a charitable donation of time and effort but on the principles of solidarity, transparency and unity. We operate on a non-hierarchical basis and each member’s voice counts equally.

Our Ethos
  • We commit to administer this fund on the basis of solidarity, not charity.
  • We receive contributions with gratitude, and recognize that when money is given to residents from the fund, it is given as a no-strings-attached gift.
  • We are non-judgmental and will not ask recipients of funding to provide evidence of how the money is spent.
  • We are against all forms of oppression, including but not limited to racism, sexism, ageism, trans-phobia, xenophobia and class-ism.
  • We are self-organised, independent from political parties and other institutional authorities.
  • All decisions made by the Queens Road Peckham Solidarity Fund are made with the input and agreement of all who administer the fund.
  • We commit to actively seeking out those in need of aid.

Our Expenses Policy
The Queens Road Peckham Solidarity fund provides assistance to SE15 residents who are struggling financially as a result of COVID-19. This fund can be used for anything, from buying groceries to paying for prescriptions. There is neither judgement nor is there an obligation to pay back the money. This is run in direct accordance with principles of mutual aid – "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need."

You can apply for funds of up to £50 per application. If your application is approved, you will not be able to apply again until the following calendar month, to ensure that we can approve expenses for as many people as possible. You must upload proof of address, confirming that you live within Queens Road Peckham & Nunhead Wards. We do not ask you to upload an invoice, bill or receipt, but ask that you use the fund in good faith. If you wish to remain anonymous, please just upload the initials of your name when asked for your full name.
