News from Sandiacre Mutual Aid

Updates on our activities and progress.

The new normal. Kind of.

It is the first week of June and the environment within which we do our work has become very different indeed from the one in which we started out. It is a new kind of normal but definitely closer to a recognisable normality than has bee...

Our work continues...

It seems almost redundant to say it but it has been a busy period since the last update. Our efforts to support the Springfield Mill residents at Novotel in Sandiacre are drawing to a close, however, as most of the residents have now lef...

About

We are Sandiacre Mutual Aid

We are a small group of local residents who have come together during a time where some people are finding it hard to access the help they need. We  are responding to the challenges of  COVID-19 / Coronavirus in the best ways that we can.

We are also responding to a major fire in the centre of Sandiacre at Springfield Mill which left 100 residents temporarily homeless with many currently unable to return to their flats due to the damage caused and because of the trauma of the circumstances. Many are seeking new accommodation and we are assisting them in every way that we are able, which is especially difficult at this time.

We are supporting the community that we live in and ensuring that nobody is left isolated or without support. We don’t ask for anything in return, we just believe in helping each other in a time of difficulty. We also believe in doing this co-operatively, collaboratively and with transparency at its core.

We have developed a significant community response from the ground up in a very short space of time - and we believe we have already made a significant difference in our local area. Not only in practical ways through the help we have given, but also in less tangible ways by showing our community that we care and that we are there for them.
