A little update from us...
Published on May 12, 2020 by Jon Nix

It's been another busy week, as they all seem to be at the moment! We - volunteers and admins - have all been working hard and trying our utmost to respond to the requests put in front of us and trying to anticipate new forms of help which may arise in the future. Although these times call for much thinking on your feet, there's also a need to expand the thinking into longer-term projects and plans which can be put in place now.

We continue to work closely with the Stapleford Food Project via the Stapleford Community Group, with our local mutual aid groups, including Stapleford and surrounding areas Mutual Aid and with others from government, voluntary, and private sectors. We are indebted to them, not just materially, but also in terms of the goodwill and bonds which are being created.

Our work with the residents of Springfield Mill is coming to an end, at least in terms of the initial and direct help provided at the Novotel. We will, certainly, stay in contact with them and will be there for them as they re-adjust and re-acquant themselves with their lives and their - in some cases completely new - domestic circumstances. Friendships have been formed within the group and friendships have been formed with the group. We wish them all well - it has been an honour to be by their sides. Their humour and ability to cope with this event at this time has been nothing short of astonishing at times.

We continue to shop, pick up prescriptions, deliver items, tend to people's welfare either in person or via the telephone, and generally ensure that we are there for those who need support in our community. Again, it's an honour and a privilege to be by the community's side at this time.

Thank you!
