This is where the CREATE programme comes in.
CREATE stands for Consciously Regenerating Ecosystems in Agriculture through Transformative Experiences. It is the ultimate agricultural professional development program for highly motivated people serious about making a real difference in food/fibre production. It is a bespoke 34 week intensive, designed to empower and deliver highly trained, capable and confident agroecological coaches, advisors and educators out into the world.

High fertiliser, chemical and energy inputs and a lack of diversity and biology have eroded the health and resilience of our farming systems - which are failing to deliver for farmers, our environment and our health. Pioneering kiwi farmers are showing that agroecological production systems can reduce cost, build ecological capital, produce healthier food and deliver better profitability.
We need to restore health, resilience and profitability by reconnecting our farm and food system to nature. And we need people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to catalyse and support this transition.

CREATE is an 8 month programme with in-person sessions at the start and finish, and online coursework in between. For course participants it’s a huge investment. The course fees are ~NZD$40K plus two trips to Australia. As well as the opportunity cost of approximately 500 hours over the 8 month programme. This is a huge hurdle for many and we are committed to helping break down this barrier to give more incredible kiwis access to this opportunity, with the ultimate benefit being to our farmers, our environment and everyone who eats!
Our ambition is to raise $25K scholarships for at least five 2025 CREATE students from New Zealand - approximately half of the course fees. Our fundraising deadline is the end of June so that we are in a position to offer scholarships to accepted students before they have to accept their places in the course by July 5th.
Sam Lang, Jules Matthews and Fran Bailey (see below) will collectively review and decide on applications for scholarships. We also invite those wanting to sponsor people from a specific region and can ring fence scholarships accordingly.
