About

Solvo is a Costa Rican company founded in 2014. We develop open-source IT solutions. Currently, we implement programs in both the Custom Software and Software as a Service modalities. Our mission is to create, share, and apply knowledge based on open-source technologies that make us a strategic partner for our clients by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of their processes.

We have successfully developed projects for private companies and public institutions, including the work report system for the Vice Presidency of Social Action, the Single Sign-On authentication system, and the digital signature platform for the Center of Informatics at the University of Costa Rica (UCR-FVA). These projects have had a significant impact on university operations.

UCR-FVA is a Digital Signature and Electronic Seal management service installed at the University of Costa Rica. It was designed to process a large number of requests per minute and has an infrastructure of several services that include at least 10 servers.

Among other products developed by SOLVO, there is Organilab, a platform designed for efficient management of scientific laboratories and risk management, based on the globally harmonized system for the classification and labeling of hazardous chemicals and the ISO 17025 standard.

At SOLVO, we believe that freedom is an inviolable right, and that collaboration is an efficient way to innovate. We collaborate with communities of developers from different programs we use, thus obtaining mutual benefits. These communities provide us with the base software for our developments, and we provide them with corrections and new functionalities for their programs.

Furthermore, the paradigm of open-source software, which respects the freedom of all users who acquire the product and allows it to be used, copied, studied, modified, and redistributed freely in different ways, is of vital importance to our clients. It allows them to save on licensing costs, offers technical support independent of our company, and enables our clients to take ownership of the software they acquire.

We believe that this shared development greatly enriches the open-source software movement in order to prevent the monopolization of technologies.
