About
I have 17 years of extensive forensic experience and training, including Forensic Biology, Crime Scene and Shooting Incident Investigation and Reconstruction, and Firearms Analysis. Throughout my forensics career, I have worked for the California Department of Justice, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the National Forensic Science Technology Center, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. I have testified as a qualified expert witness in courts in Arizona and California and in front of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. I have served as the Regional Director South and Lead Webmaster for the California Association of Criminalists. I served as a member of the San Diego County Sheriff's LGBTQ+ Advisory Council and am a graduate of the 2023 FBI San Diego Citizens' Academy.
Before my career in forensics, I worked for six years as a published research scientist. I studied protease regulation in the Yellow Fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti, at the University of Arizona Department of Biochemistry. I also completed an internship at the National Institutes of Health/NIDDK, studying neutral lipid trafficking in Niemann-Pick Type C disease. In September 2021, I became the Executive Director of A Lasting Strength, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). I also served as a community member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council at UC San Diego Health.
